Bombay Seed Traders, we have been collecting seed on our hill since 2011. We have been choosing seed that preforms better in the cold, delivers fruit in our short summers, we have been improving the taste (which generally equals nutrient density), and we have focussed on lowering the strike temperatures of all our vegetable seed.

Our Mission is to provide better seedlings, to make it easier for you to put food on your table.

and if you want to collect seed specifically for your local microclimate there’s no better time to start.

why heritage seeds?

If you live and grow in the highlands there’s a very good chance your seedlings come from a green house somewhere around sea level. A very different climate indeed.

If you’ve ever planted out a veggie patch that underperformed, (didn’t transplant well, took too long to fruit, got melted by the sun/frost or just disappointed you) it probably wasn’t your fault. Don’t despair, Bombay Seed Traders has your gardens back.

Why do you think Grandmas Grandma was so good at gardening? back when she fed her very large family from the back yard, pre supermarkets…

She had the best Seedlings.

No F1 Hybrids. Just good old heritage seed stock, passed on from neighbours and family specifically developed to preform and taste great in a unique microclimate.

Heritage seeds have vast genetic diversity, making them super capable in our Unpredictable Highland Climate.

This Genetic diversity means that every seed we managed to grow in our microclimate, regardless of its origin, has evolved to be better, stronger and more adaptable every cycle. Literally making it easier to grow our own food now than it was 10 years ago.
